Chris King designed his first headset in 1976 and was immediately faced with staggering local and regional demand. He continued to manufacture the headsets in his spare time while they developed a strong yet quiet reputation as one of the most exclusive and elite bicycle components available.

In 1991 Chris King founded King Cycle Group and dedicated 100% of his time to the production of his now world famous headsets and after a few years they began work on new products such as the time tested Chris King hubs and the new bottom bracket unit.
