
Waterproofing: The industry standard for waterproof testing is the water column test. This test measures the millimetres of water that can be held by the fabric without leaking, over a 24 hour period. The minimum requirement for a fabric to be considered "waterproof" is 1000mm. All Showers Pass clothing far exceeds this standard!
Breathability: MVTR (Moisture Vapour Transfer Rate) is measured in a chamber, divided vertically by the fabric being tested. A dry atmosphere is in one chamber, and a moist atmosphere is in the other. A 24-hour test is run to see how much moisture passes through the fabric from the 'wet' chamber to the 'dry' chamber.
Weight: Not dissimilar to bicycle weight or bike component weights, the overall light weight of cycling gear is a highly desirable, and in some cases vitally important, feature for most cyclists.
